Welcome

There's much to see here. So, take your time and look around. These are resources I recommend for different clients to deepen their work outside of session.

Resources

Couple's Resources

A collection of books, workbooks, podcasts and workshops to help people build healthy relationships

Hold Me Tight

A book for couples navigating seven conversations vital to a healthy relationship. This is Emotionally Focused Couple's Therapy in a book format. For couples who have stuck relationship patterns, this book will not be sufficient to shift those patterns.

Love Sense

A wonderful book filled with the science of love and attachment. This is my favorite Sue Johnson book (founder of Emotionally Focused Therapy).

Fair Play

A book as well as a card deck system to help couples mindfully navigate the mental load and life to do lists paving the way for more connection, partnership, and less resentment.

Created For Connection Workshop

A book and also the name of workshops for couples. This book and workshop are overtly Christian in nature incorporating the principles of EFT alongside scripture found in the Bible. Here is a link to Baton Rouge workshops offered by an EFT Certified Therapist

Connecting Couples

A podcast for couples based on the principles of Emotionally Focused Therapy

Securely Attached

A workbook for identifying attachment styles and moving from insecure to secure connections. Eli Harwood also has wonderful content on her social media profiles.

Leaving Loneliness

A workbook for identifying attachment styles and moving from insecure to secure connections.

Sexual Intimacy Resources

Podcasts and books aimed at healing, improving and informing healthy sexual functioning

Foreplay Radio

A bold podcast hosted by a Sex Therapist and an Emotionally Focused Therapy Trainer geared to ignite passion and connection in the bedroom. **These are not episode titles you want popping up on your screen sharing during a professional presentation ;)

Wanting Sex Again

Written by Foreplay Radio host and Sex Therapist, Laurie Watson, this is a book for women who have lost - or have yet to find - their way to joyful, meaningful, satisfying sex.

Come As You Are

Filled with research, this bold and informative book seeks to educate women on their own unique sexual intricacies giving help to overcoming common sexual blocks.

Parenting Resources

Book and workbooks for empowering parents to building healthy and secure relationships with their children

Raising a Secure Child

An attachment-based book for helping parents foster a secure attachment in their children which, in turn, increases a child's emotional resiliency and ability to explore.

True Connection

This is an excellent resource for parents struggling to having connected and productive conversations with their adolescent children. This is a guidebook for crafting and navigating important conversations from start to finish.

Hold On to Your Kids

A beautiful book challenging the prevailing belief that peer relationships supersede parents' as a sign of maturation. I recommend this book for any parent - especially those with children entering adolescence.

The Connected Parent

Overtly Christian. A book based on Trust Based Relational Interventions. The author is a biological and adoptive parent who gives accessible and practical suggestions for parenting children "from hard places" (ie. adoptive kids or those with special behavioral or emotional needs.)

The Connected Child

Overtly Christian. A book based on Trust Based Relational Interventions. The author is the founder of TBRI, a biological and adoptive parent who gives researched-based concepts and tools for parenting children "from hard places" (ie. adoptive kids or those with special behavioral or emotional needs.)

Talking Point: Family Card Deck

A deck full of conversation starters for ages for ages 5+ ranging from topics like Getting to Know You to What Makes You, You to Fun and Random. Helps to overcome those "How was your day?" dead end convos

Individual Resources

Books and workbooks for guiding personal growth and healing

The Wisdom of Your Heart

Overtly Christian. This is a vulnerable and powerful book about the role of emotions through the lens of scripture and informed by neuroscience. It combats the myths that emotions primarily lead you astray, they are not spiritual and that God is not emotional. I especially love the tips on how to recognize emotions and what to do with them.

Try Softer

Overtly Christian. This exists as both a book and a workbook. It is a wonderful introduction into how to do your own story work (getting curious and informed about why you are the way that you are) as well as how to begin your healing journey.

All opinions and perspectives contained in the various resources are those of their respective authors and do not belong to nor are reflective of Easterly Counseling
